Ballet meets Jamie XX and Olafur Eliasson in Tree of Codes

Inspired by a haunting literary experiment that saw the American writer Jonathan Safran Foer use scissors to carve a new narrative from a pre-war German short story collection titled The Street of Crocodiles, this was a dance work that managed to be cerebral and sensual in equal measure.

Fusing choreography by Britain’s Wayne McGregor, light (by Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson ) and music from UK producer-composer Jamie xx, Tree of Codes invited audiences into a layered landscape where text, music and movement seemed to be in constant negotiation – a ravishing puzzle whose pieces never stopped moving.
