Ice melts into Sydney Harbour in THAW by Legs on the Wall (2022)

Featuring a 2.7 tonne, intricately sculpted block of ice hoisted 20 metres above the Harbour from the foot of Sydney Opera House, a daring, solitary performer perched alone. As she scrambed to save her frozen world against a score by the Alaskan composer Matthew Burtner, THAW addressed humankind’s impact on the planet in a durational performance and large-scale installation that captivated passersby.

The eight-and-a-half-hour slow drip was livestreamed to audiences at home, delivering a message on climate change and sustainability not easily forgotten.
