Love is Love Wedding Reception by Sydney Festival (2018)
After months of sometimes divisive debate, it felt only right that Sydney Festival celebrate Australia’s first day of legal same-sex marriage – 9 January, 2018.
The Love is Love Wedding Reception turned the Festival Village in Hyde Park into a giant rainbow-hued party space, complete with cake, flowers, champagne and pink swimming pools. Guests were invited to take a dip, take a ride on the Karaoke Carousel and shake it off in speedy 10-Minute dance parties. DJ Charlie Villas spun wedding reception bangers all night; there was five-tier pavlova in rainbow colours (with vegan options, of course), and we all forgot what the fuss had been about. It’s all love, right?
