An achingly beautiful rendition of Archie Roach's 2019 release, 'Nupon Gurongk' is captured at soundcheck before a performance at City Recital Hall. 

Watch as Roach performs the soul-stirring song alongside his five-piece band, including award-winning jazz composer Paul Grabowsky, guest vocalists Emma Donovan and Sally Dastey, violinist Veronique Serret and yidaki (didgeridoo) virtuoso William Barton.

'Nopun Kurongk' is a song about the Coorong in South Australia where Roach's late wife the singer-songwriter Ruby Hunter lived as a child before she was taken, and about her returning to see it again many years later. 

Roach and Hunter were both members of the Stolen Generation.
